Pratap ghee is an initiative of Late Sh. Pyare Lal Ghee Wale, who belonged to village Dahar near Panipat in Haryana. In 1958, he started Desi Ghee business from Khari Baoli, Delhi. Former chairman of MCD Shahdara, New Delhi Sh. Pyare Lal was a spiritual man and believed that nothing but the best should be offered to God. Ghee is an essential ingredient of all Hindu rituals and should be served most piously. He said, "Ghee is Amrit, and adulterating it is the same as poisoning. In 2004 he took sanyas from grihastha ashram , & after that, he lived in Rishikesh for the rest of his life.
